Payroll Assistant – Fixed Term Contract until 1st April 2026
Work Location: Hybrid, Edinburgh-based
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £26,031.44
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Payroll Assistant to join Ark on a Fixed Term Contract until 1st April 2026. The purpose of this post is to manage all aspects of Ark’s payroll processing.
You will provide the first point of contact for all Ark employees (c. 700) in relation to any aspect of payroll whilst ensuring that Ark’s monthly payroll and expenses are paid on time and that all related pay calculations are accurate.
We are looking for a dedicated and diligent individual who is committed to providing an excellent Pay service to our staff. We have a strong value base and expect our people to align with Ark’s values – Trust, Respect, Understanding, Equality and Integrity.
The post holder should display good interpersonal skills and a strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately input data in a timely manner. They will also display the ability to work independently and as part of a team; managing, prioritising and operating to tight deadlines. The post holder must also have the ability to gather and analyse information to respond to queries.
Given the wealth of knowledge within the Payroll team, you will be given an incredibly robust and supportive induction from someone who knows the role at an expert level and will always be on hand to help you get up to speed.

If you have:
- A demonstratable track record in Payroll working in a busy team
- Current knowledge of UK payroll legislation
- Significant knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel including using formulas
- Ability to meet set deadlines and support others to achieve those deadlines
